Nintendo Just Dropped the Switch 2 – And It’s Pure Chaos (In the Best Way Possible)

on

The Nintendo Switch 2 has officially been revealed, and let’s just say – if your current console had feelings, it would be sweating right now. Launching globally on June 5, 2025, this next-gen beast is priced at $449.99, or $499.99 for the Mario Kart World bundle.

The catch? That price tag.

The Switch 2 will retail in South Africa at R12,499. Yep, nearly thirteen grand. Lucky for you, the future isn’t about owning – it’s about freedom. And that’s exactly what subscription gives you.

What’s New? Everything.

Nintendo took everything we love about the OG Switch and cranked it up to 11:
🎮 A 7.9-inch LCD screen with 1080p resolution (because your eyes deserve better).
120 FPS with HDR support for buttery smooth gameplay.
🏡 Docked mode? 4K gaming – so now your couch gaming setup is chef’s kiss.
🔊 3D Spatial Audio – so when Bowser breathes fire, you feel it.
💾 256GB of storage (because let’s be real, you never delete games).
🕹️ The Joy-Con 2 controllers now snap on magnetically, with bigger buttons and – wait for it – a rollerball for better precision (and hopefully no drift). Nintendo’s finally listening.

The Games? STACKED.

Nintendo didn’t just bring the hardware; they brought the bangers:
🚗 Mario Kart World – now with dynamic weather, a free roam mode, and 24-player races. Chaos. Absolute chaos.

🗡️ The Legend of Zelda: Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment – because we never say no to more Zelda.

🔫 Metroid Prime 4 – it’s finally here, and gives Nintendo a much-needed first party FPS.
🕶️ Cyberpunk 2077, Elden Ring, Final Fantasy 7 Remake – yeah, Nintendo’s not playing around anymore.

On top of that, a bunch of OG Switch games will get the upgrade treatment with Switch 2 versions. They’ll even get extra content – Breath of the Wild with a companion app, anyone?

Nintendo’s Still Weird

OK, that Zelda companion app probably belongs here. But it wouldn’t be Nintendo without some truly bizarre showings. So it shouldn’t have been surprising to see the weird new voice chat feature, with a microphone right on the console. And some sort of multi-feed video chat feature for when you and your friends are hanging but not playing the same game?

Also there’s a camera, but it costs extra. And the Joy Cons are also a mouse.

Did we mention the wheelchair-robot-basketball game? Or the game that gives you a tour of the Switch 2’s new features – only you have to buy the game first?

Nintendo. Why.

Subscription = The Ultimate Power-Up

Look, we get it. Buying a brand-new console every few years? Painful. Dropping thousands upfront? Even worse. That’s why subscription is the future – because why commit to owning when you can just access, upgrade, and flex whenever you want?

The Nintendo Switch 2 isn’t just an upgrade – it’s proof that the future of gaming is fast, flexible, and always evolving. Sounds a lot like Rentoza, doesn’t it? Stay tuned for SA pricing – just know when it drops, you won’t need to fork out your entire savings to get in on the action. You’ll just subscribe.
