You know what they say: An Apple announcement a day keeps the doctor away – probably because they’re too busy hitting checkout on the new drops to help their patients.
Apple just announced a slew of new products that are sure to excite tech enthusiasts worldwide. The highly anticipated iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max, the new AirPods Pro 4, and the new Apple Watch 10 are coming soon, and bringing with them a host of technological advancements.
Here’s everything you need to know.
Faster, More Efficient
The new iPhone 16 models come with larger display sizes, new creative capabilities with innovative pro camera features, stunning graphics for immersive gaming, and more – all powered by the A18 Pro chip, which takes the crown as the most powerful ever in an Apple phone.
“Powered by the faster, more efficient A18 Pro chip and built for Apple Intelligence, iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max are the most advanced iPhone models we’ve ever made,” said Greg Joswiak, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing.
In terms of design, the phone is constructed with a durable and strong yet lightweight titanium, and the thinnest border on any Apple product. They also have big advancements in battery life, with the iPhone 16 Pro Max now offering the best battery life on an iPhone ever.
The new camera system features a 48MP Fusion camera with a faster quad-pixel sensor that enables 4K210 fps video recording in Dolby Vision, the highest resolution and frame-rate combination ever available on iPhone. It also comes with Camera Control, a fast and intuitive way to tap into visual intelligence and easily interact with the advanced camera system.
The Visual Intelligence feature allows users to snap pictures and the phone will immediately pull up information related to the content on screen. For example, you could snap a picture of a dog to find out the breed, or take an image of a restaurant to pull up the menu, reviews, or opening hours.
Apple also announced the iPhone 16 and 16 Plus, which make incremental upgrades to last year’s formula. It also adds some fun new colours, and includes the new Camera Control features also present on the Pro and Pro Max models. You also get the Action button previously available on only the Pro and Pro Max models.
Apple Intelligence
The iPhone 16 will feature Apple Intelligence, the personal intelligence system that combines the power of generative models with personal context to deliver intelligence that is helpful and relevant while protecting user privacy.
Apple Intelligence harnesses the power of Apple Silicon to understand and create language and images, take action across apps, and draw from personal context to simplify and accelerate everyday tasks.
“This groundbreaking approach provides the ability to flex and scale computational capacity between on-device processing and larger, server-based models that run on dedicated Apple silicon servers – an extraordinary step forward for privacy in artificial intelligence,” according to Apple.
Another standout feature that forms part of Apple Intelligence are the systemwide Writing Tools, which help users adjust notes or emails to be more friendly, concise, or professional, check for grammar and sentence structure, and summarise selected text. Users can also record, transcribe and summarise audio using the Notes and Phone apps.
Apple Watch
The world’s bestselling watch is getting a new version. The Apple Watch 10 is thinner than ever, with the biggest and most advanced display yet. It will also have a sleep apnea detector feature to help detect the potentially dangerous sleep condition, and comes with faster charging, water depth and temperature sensing, and new health and fitness insights and intelligence.
The display offers up to 30% more active screen area than its predecessors, allowing for greater readability and usability. It’s also the first Apple product to offer an innovative wide-angle OLED display, making it up to 40% brighter at all angles than Series 9.
This watch maintains all-day 18-hour battery life, and just 15 minutes of charging powers it up for eight hours of normal daily use.
AirPods Pro
The brand claims the AirPods 4 are the best headphones they’ve created, with an open-ear design and unparalleled data set that used advanced modelling tools to map and analyse thousands of ear shapes to deliver the most comfortable AirPods fit ever.
The AirPods Pro 2 will come with a clinical-grade over-the-counter hearing aid feature, as well as a clinical hearing test for users.
“Hearing health is an essential part of our overall wellbeing, yet it can often be overlooked – in fact, according to the Apple Hearing Study, a staggering 75 percent of people diagnosed with hearing loss go untreated,” said Sumbul Desai, M.D., Apple’s vice president of Health. “We’re thrilled to provide breakthrough software features with AirPods Pro that put users’ hearing health front and centre, bringing new ways to help test for and receive assistance for hearing loss.”
The new Apple products will be on the market from 20 September. Make sure to keep your eyes peeled to the Rentoza site so you can subscribe instead of buy.
