We talked to Newzroom Afrika about our view on risk profiling for customers in South Africa. 

We don't believe credit checks are an accurate determinant of risk, in-fact, we don't do credit checks at all. We've develop our own behavioural risk scoring system which we use to assess our customers. This allows us to manage risk based on multiple qualitative and quantitative factors.  The alternative approach allows us to extend subscriptions to people that would traditionally be excluded due to credit risk assessment.
