The Role:
We are looking for a Senior Collections Agent to join our dynamic team and help deliver a world-class digital customer experience within the verifications team for our rapidly growing subscriber base. This role is for an ambitious and highly motivated individual seeking the rare opportunity to help scale a high-growth technology company, across multiple verticals.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Debt Recovery
- Contact customers to collect outstanding payments through phone calls, SMS, and emails
- Negotiate repayment plans with customers who are unable to pay in full.
- Ensure payments are processed accurately and on time.
2. Account Management
- Maintain detailed records of customer accounts, including payment history and outstanding balances.
- Update payment statuses in the system.
- Follow up with customers to ensure commitments are met.
3. Communication and Customer Service
- Provide excellent customer service by handling inquiries and concerns professionally.
- Explain payment terms, agreements, and options clearly to customers.
- Build and maintain positive relationships to encourage timely payments.
4. Goal-Oriented Tasks
- Meet or exceed daily, weekly, or monthly collection targets.
- Collaborate with team members to share best practices and strategies for improving collections.
- Keep up to date with product or service changes to address customer queries effectively.
Required Qualifications and Skills:
- Matric
- Minimum of 2 - 5 Years Experience in collections related role
- Proficiency in Google Workspace, Slack, Zendesk, Atlassian
- Ability to work under pressure
- Exceptional attention to detail, organisational and planning skills
- Interpersonal skills (I.e. communication, ability to handle conflict, independence and time management)
- Desire to learn, adapt, grow and think "outside the box"
- A Team Player - reaching out to peers, and fostering good relationships with Team Leaders and Executives to establish an overall collaborative working relationship.
- A Hard Worker - a dedicated individual willing to go the extra mile to make sure a task is not only done, but done right
