The Role
We are seeking a detail-oriented and customer-focused Insurance Agent to join our e-commerce team. The Insurance Agent will be responsible for handling insurance claims related to online purchases, providing exceptional customer service, and ensuring timely resolution of claims. This role requires strong communication skills, empathy, and a thorough understanding of insurance policies and procedures.
The role will entail maintaining relationships with our existing clients, suppliers/manufacturers and fostering relationships with new clients while preserving the relationship with our insurer(s) (and associated parties). You will be communicating with clients, suppliers, manufacturers, insurers (and other relevant stakeholders) through various mediums, all depending on what that specific duty requires. This is essential in maintaining efficiency and customer satisfaction, while also fostering excellent working relationships with our suppliers and insurers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Receive and review insurance claims submitted by customers for damaged, lost, or defective items purchased through our e-commerce platform.
- Conduct thorough investigations into each claim, including gathering relevant documentation, contacting suppliers or manufacturers, and assessing liability and coverage.
- Communicate with customers promptly and professionally to gather additional information, explain the claims process, and provide updates on claim status.
- Evaluate claims based on policy terms, coverage limits, and applicable laws and regulations to determine claim validity and settlement options.
- Collaborate with internal teams, including customer service, logistics, and finance, to gather information and facilitate claim resolution.
- Negotiate settlements with customers, suppliers, or insurers within established guidelines and timelines.
- Maintain accurate records of claims, correspondence, and settlement agreements in the insurance database or CRM system to feed into daily, weekly and monthly reports.
- Provide guidance and support to customers throughout the claims process, including answering questions, addressing concerns, and ensuring customer satisfaction.
- Analyse current claims management processes and identify areas for improvement.
- Implement innovative solutions to streamline claims processing, reduce costs, and enhance customer satisfaction.
- Stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies that can improve insurance management and claims processing.
- Collaborate with the tech team to integrate new tools and systems that enhance claims management and overall insurance processes.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in insurance, business, or related field (preferred).
- Proven experience as an Insurance Agent or Claims Adjuster
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail in evaluating insurance claims and assessing coverage.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally with customers, suppliers, and insurers.
- Proficiency in insurance claims software, CRM systems, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Knowledge of e-commerce platforms and online retail operations is a plus.
- Ability to work independently, prioritise tasks, and handle multiple claims simultaneously.
